Protect yourself against the unexpected

Why is an LPA so important?

To protect tomorrow, you must prepare today

In short..

Without an LPA, your loved ones are left completely powerless and must turn to the Court of Protection just to help you. This ordeal can drag on for months, drain savings, and leave your family terrified at a time they’re already struggling.

There are two types of LPA:

  • Property & Financial Affairs LPA covers managing money, bills, property, and investments.
  • Health & Welfare LPA covers decisions about your medical treatment, care, and day-to-day wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find quick, clear answers to common questions about our services, process, and policies. This helps you get the information you need—fast and easily.

How much does it cost to make a Will?

The price will vary depending on how you decide to prepare your Will. Basic DIY or online templates can cost as little as £20, while solicitor-prepared mirror Wills typically average around £500, depending on complexity and location. At Heirkin Estate Planning, we keep things simple with transparent, fixed fees including VAT: £99 for a single Will or £179 for mirror Wills.

What’s the difference between using you and a solicitor?

Solicitors are able to give legal advice, but many do not specialise in Wills and may use complicated legal language. They also tend to operate strictly within office hours, which can be inconvenient. Heirkin Estate Planning offers flexible home-visit appointments at times that suit you — including mornings, evenings, and weekends — and our specialists explain everything clearly and without jargon. All fees are fixed and confirmed upfront.

What can I include in my Will?

Will allows you to set out what happens to your assets, such as savings, property, personal belongings, and any jointly owned items (which require agreed instructions). Items held in trust, like certain pensions or life insurance policies, are usually not included. In your Will, you can appoint executors, choose beneficiaries, name guardians for children, and include trusts or specific wishes. Heirkin Estate Planning can also assist with Lasting Powers of Attorney and provide ongoing support through our membership services.

Do I need a legal professional to write my Will?

Not necessarily. There are DIY and online Will-writing kits that may be suitable for very simple circumstances. However, these options offer limited guidance and it’s easy to make mistakes that could impact your family later. Working with a professional like Heirkin Estate Planning ensures your wishes are clearly and correctly documented.

How much does it cost to change your Will?

Members of our Lifetime Service can update their Will at no additional cost. For those who are not Lifetime Service members — or who originally created their Will elsewhere — the price to amend your Will is the same as producing a new one.
